Traveling to the UAE just got easier for Indian passport holders. In a recent announcement aimed at enhancing relations between India and the United Arab Emirates, all Indian travelers can now enjoy a visa-on-arrival option at all UAE entry points.

This new policy applies not only to Indian passport holders but also to those with permanent residency, green cards, or valid visas from the United States, United Kingdom, or any European Union country. Travelers will have two choices for their visa: a 14-day visa on arrival, which can be extended for an additional 14 days, or a 60-day non-extendable visa. Applicable fees as per UAE regulations will need to be paid, and travelers must ensure their passports are valid for at least six months from the date of entry. This was confirmed by the Indian mission in the UAE on October 17.

This initiative builds on previous efforts to simplify travel for Indian nationals. Earlier this year, Emirates partnered with VFS Global to launch a pre-approved visa-on-arrival service for Indian passport holders, making the arrival process smoother and helping to reduce long immigration queues.

Additionally, in February 2023, Dubai introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa for Indian nationals, part of a broader strategy to strengthen commercial, tourism, and economic ties with India. This policy reflects Dubai's commitment to enhancing relationships with one of its most significant tourism markets.

India is a crucial source of tourists for Dubai; in 2023, the city welcomed 2.46 million overnight visitors from India, marking a 25% increase from pre-pandemic figures. This growth has established India as the top source market for Dubai’s tourism sector, as reported by the city-state's department of economy and tourism in February.

With these new visa policies, the UAE is set to attract even more Indian visitors in the years to come, further strengthening the cultural and economic connections between the two nations.
